Madonna’s marriage to filmmaker Guy Ritchie is over. Reports are circulating that the couple did not have a pre-nup but because they live primarily in London, the divorce is expected to move through the courts there. It’s expected that the pair will come to a multimillion-dollar settlement.
The split comes after the two of them tried to save their crumbling marriage with an intensive kabbalah course in Manhattan.
A joint statement given to the AP:
“Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven-and-a-half years of marriage. They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time.”
This past summer there were months of speculation over Madonna’s close friendship with Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez, whose estranged wife, Cynthia, was quoted saying that Madonna had “brainwashed” her hubby. Cynthia told a friend that she believed that her husband A-Rod and Madonna had an “affair of the heart.”
Madonna’s husband Ritchie was a no-show just two days ago at the New York premiere of a comedy she directed, “Filth and Wisdom.”
