Ryan Reynolds has beaten Justin Timberlake and The Hangover star Bradley Cooper to become the Green Lantern, according to reports.
The actor is already set to get his own spin-off comic book film after a well-received appearance as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
But before then, he will be playing fan favourite Green Lantern in the next big-budget superhero project to hit cinemas.
Producers for the long-rumoured film had reportedly narrowed down their choices for the lead to Reynolds, Cooper and Timberlake.
But Reynolds, who last year married actress Scarlett Johansson, has won out.
DC Comics hero Green Lantern, also known as Hal Jordan, is part of the Justice League and has an all-powerful ring with a green glow.
