Former Spice Girl Mel B is suing a former business partner for a whopping $7 million.
The singer – whose real name is Melanie Brown – and her husband, Stephen Belafonte, have slapped Dan Catullo with a lawsuit.
The couple claim a big business deal with Catullo fell apart and are now suing him for millions.
Mel B, also known as Scary Spice, and Belafonte claim they tried to join forces with Catullo in 2008, by setting up a company to profit off her “music, touring, merchandising and public appearances”.
The couple allege Catullo not only backed out of the $2 million deal, but that he also defrauded her in a number of ways including forging Mel B’s signature on a financial document.
They are now suing Catullo for $7 million for fraud, breach of contract and a number of other alleged offences.
Amy Winehouse has filed a lawsuit against her former mother-in-law for selling one of her love letters addressed to her son, Blake Fielder-Civil. The letter was said to be written while he was serving time for assault and perverting justice and his mother, Georgette, intercepted it. The singer is suing for copyright infringement and £50,000 compensation. I guess that’s what would qualify as sweet revenge as Georgette has previously accused Wino for Blake’s drug habit. Here’s to hoping that Wino will have enough smarts in her to not want to deal with that family ever again. Divorce, jail and rehab should be enough reasons.
Lisa Marie Presley’s former nanny has slapped the daughter of the King of Rock and Roll with a big old lawsuit. According to the legal documents, Christine White says that she became the singer’s postpartum caregiver only weeks after Lisa Marie gave birth to her twin daughters in October 2008. The lawsuit claims that Lisa Marie never paid the nanny for working overtime, even though she was working seven days a week. The nanny’s suit also claims that Lisa Marie didn’t allow her to take breaks for meals. That just sounds awful. I think that if you don’t have time to take care of your own kids, you probably shouldn’t have any.
Sheryl Crow has decided to sell off her musical catalogue. Rights to the singer and songwriter’s songs were just acquired by the S1 Songs Group. The deal will allow Sheryl to write and produce more music for television and film, as well as put a few much needed buck in the bank – $10 million to be exact. That’s not a bad pay for 15 years worth of music. It’s not great either. The company now has the rights to her existing portfolio as well as her next upcoming two albums. However, there’s yet to be any word on when these albums will be coming out.
Eddie Cibrian has filed for divorce – and reportedly wants his ex to pay him spousal support.
The TV hunk, who has now gone public with his lover LeAnn Rimes, blamed the breakdown of his eight-year marriage to Brandi Glanville on “irreconcilable differences”.
The star of CSI: Miami, who met married Rimes when the pair filmed TV movie Northern Lights, was busted when a US magazine published photos of him and the singer-actress enjoying a romantic dinner together.
According to the divorce papers, Cibrian, who has two children with Glanville, is seeking spousal support from Brandi.
The documents show a cross indicating he is seeking payments but the two have yet to work out how to split their property.
The estranged couple announced they were separating in July, nearly four months after the affair rumours surfaced.
Scorned Glanville has since slammed her ex, telling Rimes: “He’s all yours.”
Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz has poked fun at his bandmate Patrick Stump on Twitter after he was arrested for driving without a valid licence.
Patrick, 25, is the lead singer of the band and was recently taken into custody in LA for an outstanding traffic warrant for driving without a licence.
He was held on a US$15,000 bail, but was later released.
Pete used his Twitter page to poke fun at the star, he said: “Dude, when I said u gotta be the bad dude in FOB, I didn’t mean 2 get arrested. How many peeps did u shank in jail.”
Since his release, Stump has spoken to MTV about his arrest and said: “All I really have to say is ignorance of the law isn’t innocence. I didn’t want to give up my Illinois driver’s license and was unaware that was a crime.
“It is, by the way, in the state of California. Lesson learned. I technically broke a law, so technically I deserve whatever I get. But man, is my mom gonna be p***ed.”
Hollywood actor Liev Schreiber said it was “exhilaratingly humiliating” to play a woman in his new film Taking Woodstock.
Liev dons a dress and heels to play a cross-dresser in the new comedy by Ang Lee.
Schreiber, who recently starred alongside Hugh Jackman in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, said about the new flick: “It was exhilaratingly humiliating.
“But I completely became giddy in a strange way the moment I put on the dress.”
The 41-year-old said he quickly became conscious of his appearance and wanted to feel more attractive.
He said: “Vanity quickly set in, and I thought to myself, ‘I wish my belly was flatter’. Let’s face it, I don’t look great in a dress, but it’s nice to hear I have nice legs.”
Liev is in a relationship with actress Naomi Watts and they have two sons together.
He admitted he has a new-found sympathy for women as he endured everyday female routines such as wearing high heeled shoes and shaving his body hair.
Jerry Hall, mother of four children with rocker Mick Jagger, called him an “eternal dissatisfied adolescent”.
Hall spoke out on her relationship with Jagger, now 66, that was doomed by his immature, rock star lifestyle. The 53-year-old American model said: “I suppose when you’re younger you’re looking for an alpha male with lots of testosterone. Mick was very, very charismatic and very funny, but the eternal dissatisfied adolescent. He was irreverent and loose. He always used to make me laugh – and there was definitely some chemistry going on.”
Though Hall and Jagger married in a Hindu beach ceremony, in 1990, the legality of the union was debated. The marriage was annulled in 1999 after model Luciana Gimenez was revealed to be pregnant with his child.
Hall is currently stripping off for a London play titled Calendar Girls. She now says she would never pick a man like Jagger again. She said: “A lot of rock stars never grow up, and I’m not looking for that now. I would never go out with a rock star again.”
Khloe Kardashian is hoping rumours that her sister Kim is reuniting with boyfriend Reggie Bush are true.
Kim, 28, recently split with Bush, 24, after dating for three-and-a-half-years, and Khloe said: “I hope they get back together. Reggie’s like my brother… Even when they broke up, I still talked to Reggie all the time. We’re still really close.”
Kim recently made a trip to New Orleans, where Bush plays for the Saints, and Khloe said there’s a reason they met up while she was there.
She said: “I think they’re still figuring it out. Nothing bad ever happened in their relationship. Kim’s busy [and] he was starting training camp. They just needed time.
“And obviously they’d been together three-and-a-half years. They love each other. Everyone sees it. I think they just miss each other.”
Hollywood star Ryan Gosling is putting his acting career on hold – to go on tour.
Gosling, who has starred in such films as The Notebook, Murder By Numbers and Lars and the Real Girl, is joining his band Dead Man’s Bones for a national tour across the US.
Along with partner Zach Shields, star’s rollout begins in October, with 12 dates scheduled across the country.
Dead Man’s Bones will utilise local choirs in all locations to add to their live show.
Gosling, who was previously engaged to Rachel McAdams, has three films completed and waiting to be released, including the recently wrapped Blue Valentine, alongside Michelle Williams.
It’s been two months since the tragic loss of Michael Jackson and only now will the King of Pop have a proper burial. The problem is that the Jackson family will have to shell out some money to ensure their privacy and protection during the private service. Sources say that the cost of providing police and other city services can total up to $50,000. Considering that the memorial service at Staples Center set the city back $1.4 million, the burial services costs aren’t bad in comparison. And thankfully, it won’t be the taxpayers that would need to pay up this time around.
Oasis star Liam Gallagher has admitted he isn’t speaking to his brother and bandmate Noel.
Liam, 36, and Noel, 42, are known for their fiery relationship and Liam has now revealed they are no longer speaking despite the fact they are currently touring with their latest album Dig Out Your Soul.
Asked if he minds not speaking to Noel, Liam said: “I don’t give a f**k mate. It takes a lot more than blood to be my brother.”
He also said that, despite the fact that they’re touring together, they don’t have to talk.
Talking about how long he thinks their lack of communication will last, Liam said: “Who knows, we just do the gigs and he’ll get out of it and I’ll get out of it and we’ll see what happens. We don’t need to talk, we’re not here to talk. We’re here to make music, play concerts.”
But Liam said there was nothing in particular that caused them to stop talking.
He said to NME: “It just happened. He doesn’t like me and I don’t like him, that’s it. We’re grown men, you know what I mean, and as long as the music… as long as we do the tour, that’s all that matters.”
Does Amy Winehouse have plans to get back together with Blake Fielder-Civil? I hope not but according to Blake, yes. He said that the singer called his up last week and begged him to take her back. Blake blabbed “We’ve been talking for the first time in months. I love her as much as ever. I know she still loves me, even though we’re getting divorced. Maybe this time we can do everything properly and not mess it up.” Blake says that he and Wino are both clean now but I think that she’s just going back to him in homes of finding some drugs. Friends of the former couple say that there may be a chance of the two re-marrying after hearing the details of some of the phone conversations between Amy and Blake. But for now, the reunion waits in the wings as Blake is still in Rehab.
Miley Cyrus’s brother Trace has called the Jonas Brothers “fake”.
Cyrus’s older, half-brother, who is the lead singer of alternative band Metro Station, suggested the boy band are not as clean-cut as their image suggests.
“I could have gone the route of the Jonas Brothers,” he said. “Those guys can’t live their lives freely. They have to put out this image that’s totally fake.”
However, when asked which of the three brothers would be the toughest to beat in fight, Cyrus insisted that he had not been including the youngest Jonas brother, Nick – who used to date his sister Miley – in his remarks.
He said: “I don’t think any of them would be much trouble. I’d never lay a hand on Nick – I love that kid – but the other two better not get in my way.”
Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston is to do her own singing for a role in new movie The Goree Girls.
Jennifer, 40, is up for a role in the movie, which is based on a true story, that follows a group of female prisoners who formed a radio country and western band in the forties.
The film’s director, Michael Sucsy, said: “She can sing. And she’s going to learn how to play the Dobro [guitar].”
The other inmates haven’t yet been picked, but Sucsy said he isn’t planning to use real-life musicians in the role.
He said: “These women learned to harmonise and they learned to play instruments. They weren’t these amazing, accomplished singers who banded together. That’s what’s interesting about it.
“It’s not just like: ‘Hey, you can play the guitar, I can play the piano, I can play the harmonica. Let’s put a band together.’
“It’s like: ‘We have to get out of jail, and if we have to put a band together to do that, then that’s what we’re going to do.”
Scary Spice Mel B is to become one of British TV’s Loose Women.
The 34-year-old is known for her big mouth, and she will no doubt set tongues wagging when she appears as a guest presenter on the ITV1 daytime chat show.
A source said: “We can’t believe we’ve managed to get her.
“She’s known for being sassy and outspoken, so she will fit in just fine – and maybe bring a few A-list pals with her.”
The Las Vegas Peepshow star and Dancing with the Stars contestant is following in the footsteps of her ex-bandmate Emma Bunton, known as Baby Spice, who appeared on the show in December.
She will be a guest presenter on the show for a week beginning September 14.
Cheryl Cole, under constant glare of the media, has turned to controversial photographer Nick Knight for a new look.
Cole’s record label, Polydor, recruited Knight to oversee Cole’s look ahead of her upcoming and second album that is yet to be titled and out in October.
Their shoot was said to be carried out in secret and to have brought Cole some challenges. Knight said: "Although Cheryl is photographed all the time by the paparazzi, she is not in front of the camera in the way professional models are – she is less used to the process. Cheryl was great to work with, though. She is incredibly beautiful – it is just a different kind of shoot with an experienced model."
Knight has photographed super model Kate Moss more than 30 times and shot Victoria Beckham for Vogue. He has garnered awards for his Vogue covers, while his fee is said to be set at a benchmark of £100,000 a day.
He also works on image creation for the likes of Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Christian Dior and Calvin Klein. In the fashion world he has drawn controversy. He has produced striking naked shots and campaigned for the use of larger models. He is also known for wearing the same outfit every time he goes to work.
I don’t think that Paula Abdul will be going back to American Idol but the man behind ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, Nigel Lythgoe, seems to think otherwise. He is holding off from giving the former judge a position on his dance competition show because he believes the decision to let Paula go might be reversed. Apparently he hasn’t been paying close attention to the media as Nigel wasn’t able to catch Fox Entertainment chairman Peter Rice say “Our understanding is we’ve concluded the negotiations and Paula has announced she will not be coming back.” If Idol won’t have her though, Nigel is keen on booking Paula for the dance show saying “I don’t know anybody that’s had her experience of being a dancer, of being a choreographer and of being a judge.”
Nick Jonas isn’t the only member of the Jonas Brothers who knows how to make a good deed. Joe Jonas will lead a 5K run to benefit Special Olympics Texas and the band’s Change for the Children Foundation. The iWin Joe Jonas Fun Run will take place the morning of August 13th, less than 12 hours before the band’s sold out San Antonio concert. A lucky 15 runners will also be randomly selected to run with Joe at the front of the race and get their pictures taken with him during the meet and greet. I wonder if he’ll wear one of his sound check costumes during the run.
Good Charlotte star Joel Madden has revealed someone recently tried to sell him a baby.
The 30-year-old is dating Nicole Richie and they have a one-year-old daughter Harlow and expect their second child later this year.
He revealed that some people made him a startling offer that he wasn’t sure was genuine.
Joel posted a message on Twitter saying: "Today some people in traffic tried to sell me a baby. A live human baby. I didn’t know what to say. I said a little prayer for the kid. Wow."
He added: "It all happened so fast. I was trying to figure out if they were serious, and i think when my reaction was not a good one, they just took off."
Joel later added: "I mean look. Chances are they were joking. The scary part is i really couldn’t tell. Maybe i’m just one gullible fool."
