Michael Jackson was eclipsed on the Forbes list of high-earning celebrities in death.
Fashion icon Yves Saint-Laurent was named the top-earning dead celebrity in the ninth annual macabre ranking put together by Forbes.
The publisher claimed Saint-Laurent, who died in 2008, earned a staggering $350million.
Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein came in second at $235 million and were followed by Jackson, who ranked third at $90 million.
Forbes Senior Editor Matt Miller, who edits the list, pointed to a massive estate sale made by Saint-Laurent and said Jackson’s longevity in earnings would likely push him higher in future. “Michael Jackson will make tens of millions of dollars a year because he has lucrative publishing rights, rights to all his memorabilia. There’s still profits to be made from the movie which comes out tomorrow.”
Fourth on the list was Elvis Presley, whose earnings in death tallied $55million.
You give a man an award for extraordinary contributions to music and all of a sudden he thinks he’s the king of the world. Now that Oasis is no more and Liam and Noel Gallagher have gone their separate, solo ways, in comes Robbie Williams to say the truth about their music over the past years. This is what the new extraordinary contributor to music said: “To be honest, I know there’s history between us and this isn’t very complimentary, but they’ve been doing a lap of honor for the past 13 years. There’s been the occasional gem here and there. ‘The Importance of Being Idle,’ and well, that’s about it.” Didn’t Robbie Williams’ mother teach him that it’s not polite to hit a man when he’s down? Or a to hit a band for that matter… Yet another one of the potential reasons for which Robbie Williams is unloading his mansion.
Here’s somebody else who’s putting real-estate on the market… but, at a fair price for themselves. It seems Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson have decided to sell their house after coming to the conclusion that it is no proper for children. A source said the following on their decision: “The house is built into the side of a giant hill and it doesn’t really have any yard. Now that Bronx is getting older they realized that really isn’t a child-friendly house. They are going to sell this house and look for something that will be better suited to young children.” Keen observation, good parenting… maybe sometime in the near future Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson will also figure out that taking small children to three-day festivals is not really to “child-friendly” either… it would score them extra points.
The singer’s father apparently underwent open heart surgery recently and, to show her support, Lady GaGa will be getting a tattoo to tribute him, as she herself related: “I’m gonna get a tattoo for him this week. I’m gonna get a heart that says ‘Dad’ in it.” Aw, isn’t that cute… well, some might know the rest of that. But seriously, wouldn’t a hug have been enough? Well, if Lady GaGa thinks not, who’s to stop her? On the plus side, she’ll be able to flaunt in all around her new upcoming tour and that’s definitely a notable advantage to be considered.
The singer has yet again astounded with her profound knowledge on all aspects of existence… especially existence itself. It seems that Lily Allen believes that life is all about drugs and booze. Here are her exact words: “Why the hell would you give up booze? No drinking until Christmas, yeah right? Drink and class A drugs – that’s what life’s all about.” Wouldn’t she like… get arrested for that? Well, hopefully for Lily Allen Stephen Lynch isn’t reading this one because he’d probably jump right into his Drug-free boy costume and pursue burning her alive. She was probably stoned when she said it though, so perhaps it is forgivable… perhaps.
The singer who has two adopted children from the African country has recently admitted that she has learned a great many things from Malawi. This is what Madonna said on the matter: “People always ask me, ‘Why did you choose Malawi?’ But I have always said, ‘Malawi chose me.’ Growing up in a privileged life, I took education for granted. Coming to Malawi has taught me a lot.” Right, so technically, what Madonna is saying here is that before coming to Malawi she never really got educated? Well, the schools there (inexistent as they are heard to be) must have really made in impression on here if she soaked up so much knowledge from that place alone.
Or perhaps they may yet get the opportunity of being more than that. It seems that the two were seen together at the LA Kings Hockey game in Los Angeles and at dinner afterwards on Saturday night. They claim that they are just friends, but something smells fishy here. But it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise, since Kristen Stewart has already been claimed by Robert Pattison, Taylor Lautner needs someone to share his time with too so why shouldn’t it be Taylor Swift? It even has a nice ring to it: double T, T squared and other “pet-names” the paparazzi will have for them.
It seems that the singer has been attending the famous festival ever since she was a child and now that she’s all grown up she wants to build herself a little home next to the location. Lily Allen said the following about her plan, which also includes a yurt: “My plan is to build a yurt on to the side of my country house. You have the house for traditional living and, of course, running hot water and toilets. But the yurt is full of old Moroccan rugs where you hang out. I want to feel like I’m at Glastonbury all year round, with a few home comforts next door.” Lily Allen is probably going to find that Glastonbury just isn’t Glastonbury with home comforts, but let her go ahead and ruin the experience for herself.
The singer turned actress recently admitted that she was flattered people are still interested in her. Lindsay Lohan said the following on the matter: “I don’t notice it. There are times when it drives me nuts, but it’s been going on since I was 13. 10 years. I don’t know if I can change it. When I don’t give people opportunities to write something, they make something up. It’s flattering that they are that interested in me. They build you up to take you down.” Well, she has her father to thank for this one… and there’s no need to make anything up about Lindsay Lohan, Michael Lohan is the one that does all of that.
After the tragic split of legendary band Oasis, an event for which he himself is responsible, Noel Gallagher admits that his thoughts are no longer looming over the carcass of the band or his brother, Liam Gallagher. Noel Gallagher said the following on the matter: “I’m having a good time and the support from my fans has been great. I’m looking forward to doing my own thing, bringing out my own music. I’m glad that’s what people want to hear. I am not thinking about much else, Oasis or Liam, I’m just having a good time.” Isn’t that cute? He’s in denial? We may yet hope for a reunion… or not. The famously extravagant pop star is going to be changing strategy for her upcoming “Monster Ball” tour by dressing up as a monster… as opposed to not really dressing as she has been doing up until now. Lady GaGa said the following about this new direction: The fashion is going to be another exploration and another level from where we were with the previous tour, the ‘Fame Ball.’ The theme of monsters is certainly going to be an influence, as well as the theme of evolution and change. It’s going to be a truly artistic experience that is going to take the form of the greatest post-apocalyptic house party that you’ve ever been to.” Interesting concept Lady GaGa brings up here… will there still be parties after the Apocalypse? Regardless of that, it will be interesting to see exactly how much dressing Lady GaGa will be doing, after all, she mustn’t overlook her motto: sex is art… or art is sex, whichever it was.
The singer recently admitted that she had a very disturbing dream involving kangaroos. Pink related the troubling sleep event: “I dreamed the other night that I smuggled two kangaroos home from Australia and they trashed my house and my dog Bailey was terrified. Bad idea!” Well, it’s not like smuggling kangaroos out of Australia into you home is ever a good idea… Pink shouldn’t need to be having bad dreams in order to realize that. Or maybe the higher power that inflicts these terrible plights upon us sought it fit for Pink, who can say how the matter truly stands.
In an access of what some might call over-eagerness, singer Teyana Taylor, probably hoping to get a bit more attention for herself, has recently declared that she’s standing by Chris Brown during all of the unfortunate events following the way he treated his former girlfriend Rihanna. This is what Teyana Taylor said regarding Chris Brown: “A lot of people were jumping on different bandwagons and I really felt like that was wack. Before the incident between him and Rihanna, Chris had always been my brother. When we met we clicked instantly from our fashion styles to our love of basketball to dancing to everything. I’ve known him for four years and I was one of the only people that stood by his side when the situation happened.” It looks like Teyana Taylor is barely able to contain herself because of joy for what happened… maybe she’ll have a go at it with Chris Brown too. Best be sure he won’t have any golf clubs.
Simon Cowell has reportedly lined up a new ballad for Irish band Westlife.
The 50-year-old music mogul reportedly loved the track, called Shadows, which was written by AJ McLean and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder.
AJ said to British newspaper the Daily Star: “Ryan and I wrote the song for the new Backstreet album, but it didn’t make it.
“When Simon heard it he loved it, and initially wanted it to go on the Leona record. Then he decided, as it was more of a boyband song, it’d suit Westlife better.”
AJ added: “I’m a Simon Cowell fan. At one point he was saying he was such a big fan of us that he spoke to the American Idol producers about doing a show with all the hits of the Backstreet Boys.”
The former member of The Beatles will be performing a show at the London O2 Arena on the 22nd of December. This show will be the last of a seven-date tour in Europe and will also be occurring 46 years to the day since The Beatles played their first Christmas show. Paul McCartney said the following about the upcoming event: This is my chance to bring our current show home to where it all began. Starting in Hamburg, ending in London and rocking everywhere in between. I’m very much looking forward to ending the year on a high.” Paul McCartney apparently forgot to mention that all of the stars will be aligned and that there is a great chance that the band might all come back to life and rock out until the end of the world. After all, it’s going to be right after the winter solstice and check out the number: 46, it’s 2 times 23… that’s got to mean something!
As the natural circle of life goes round and round again, not only Justin Timberlake but also Britney Spears seems to be going back to one of her old romances: Jason Trawick. A source related the following about Britney Spears’ new love interest in her old boyfriend: “They’ve been spending a lot of time together. Britney missed Jason so much when they were apart. They barely spoke. Now he’s planning to join her on her Australian tour next month.” Really Captain Herbal-life? What does Jamie Spears think about it? Does all of this fit into his master plan for saving Britney Spears’ immortal soul? Probably if Jason Trawick can provide adequately for Britney Spears, they’re home free.
After being accused of having outstanding debts to the government, Courtney Love is now being ordered by a judge to pay Elite Maids three thousand dollars. Of course, Courtney Love didn’t even bother with this and just let the company sue her and win… after all, it’s not like Ms. Cobain has run out of funds just yet. Either that, or three thousand dollars is nothing compared to what she has to pay in taxes. But the question arises: if there are no more maids for Courtney Love, who’s doing all the cleaning? Can’t be her… she’s Ms. Cobain, after all.
The singer and actress who recently gave birth to her first child also admitted that she really liked eating as much as she did when she was pregnant and would like to do it all again. Jennifer Hudson said: “The trick is getting back into your old ways. If I could go around eating like I ate while I was pregnant, that’d be the way to go. But you have to snap back to it. It’s like an on and off switch, you have to go back to the norm.” Wow she makes it sound so simple! But come on… a little cookie here and there, a little extra chicken. What’s a few extra pounds, in the end? Jennifer Hudson need not notice about it, she still has an excuse to eat up!
The already famous clump of hair that is believed to have been shaved from the musical legend’s head when he joined the army has been sold at an auction for fifteen thousand dollars… that and a host of other of Elvis’ old belongings. Still, it’s a bit cheap for a piece of hair from the King himself, isn’t it? Why, if they had Michael Jackson’s hair to sell right now, they’d probably get ten times more on it… or maybe not since considering the number of procedures Michael Jackson went through, his hair might not even have been hair at all… all the more reason to consider Elvis’ under-evaluated. Somebody should sue.
