Russell Crowe was full of Christmas cheer during the festive season as he handed a homeless man a plush coat to help keep out the winter chill.
The Gladiator star was filming scenes for new movie The Next Three Days in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, earlier this month when he learned a popular down-and-out known as ‘Radio Man’ had travelled to the city to catch a glimpse of the shoot.
And Crowe immediately showed his generous side – handing the grateful vagrant a warm coat with a furry hood.
A source said: “Apparently, Radio Man loves Russell so much that he went all the way there just to stand outside the set.”
The centre of Dublin came to a standstill on Christmas Eve when a group of buskers took to the streets to raise money for charity.
For this busking group included pop superstar and U2 frontman Bono.
Bono joined Glen Hansard, Damien Rice, Mundy, Liam O’Maonlai and others on Grafton Street to raise money for the Dublin Simon Community, a group that works to prevent homelessness and aid the homeless.
Bono sang along to Stand By Me, One, and Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, before slipping away while the others carried on.
One fan told the local paper The Hot Press: “That was incredible. I was out innocently doing my shopping when I saw a crowd gathered.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I had a closer look – you might expect to see someone like Mundy doing something like this for charity, but there were three huge stars there, giving it loads. It really added to the Christmas Eve atmosphere.”
Many fans filmed the surprise appearance and posted videos of the buskers on YouTube.com.
Pete Doherty was arrested earlier this week and it has now been revealed that the singer is being charged with heroin possession. The Babyshambles rock star was arrested quickly after appearing in court for other charges and he will be heading back to court this coming January for the new ones. Pete could also be facing charges for an alleged hit and run that left a pedestrian in critical condition. As for the charges he faced earlier this week, Pete was fined £2,050 and banned from driving for 18 months after a guilty plea for drunk driving back in July after a concert. Will he ever learn?
Emily Eavis has signed another headliner for Glastonbury’s 40th anniversary event, but she won’t be revealing who it is until the new year.
Organisers of the annual festival have already said that U2 will top the bill on the Friday night of the June event, and now they say the Saturday night is arranged as well.
“Saturday night is confirmed,” Eavis said in an interview at www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk. “And for Sunday night, we’re looking at three main options right now. That’s all being sorted out at the moment.”
“The great thing about next year is that there’s a lot of bands who’ve been a big part of the festival who really want to get involved, and not necessarily in the slot that they would normally have. A lot of them are much bigger than where they’re going to be playing. I think people will be really, really excited about the line-up.”

Ronnie Wood’s ex-girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova was reportedly dating another man while they were still together.
Wood, 62, recently split with the 20-year-old Russian model after 18 months.
It is claimed that she has been comforted by male model Dan Turner, 22, since the split and the pair are now a couple. They were recently seen getting close at a nightclub in London.
However it has been reported that the pair were dating before she split with Wood.
A source told UK newspaper the Daily Mail: “When Kat started going out with Ronnie, she lost a lot of friends, but Dan was someone who never failed her. She has always trusted him.
“They met as they both share a lot of the same friends on the Camden scene.
“I can’t say when their relationship turned to romance, but they are 100 per cent a couple now. They walk around holding hands and Kat is always at Dan’s flat.”
, 17, has reportedly taken out a restraining order against her mother Courtney Love.
The order emerged after court papers earlier showed Love was no longer the custodian of her nearly grown daughter.
Frances Bean is now in the custody of her late father Kurt’s mother Wendy O’Connor.
The judge has now reportedly issued a temporary restraining order forbidding Love to have contact with Frances and another hearing is set for January to consider making the order permanent.
Kurt’s brother Charles Fradenburg said his sister Wendy had been trying to get custody of Frances Bean for quite a few years. He said: “Courtney is not fit to take care of Frances, she can barely take care of herself. Courtney wasn’t doing any parenting at all, she was hiring nannies to do all of the work. This is a wonderful thing for the family.”
Love, meanwhile, faces a multitude of financial and personal issues, by all reports.
Simon Cowell, star judge on The X Factor and bachelor, will never settle down, according to fellow TV judge Amanda Holden.
She said of Cowell: “He makes me laugh, taking his exes to Barbados. One giving him a pedicure, one a manicure and one a massage. I really don’t think he’ll ever settle down. He goes off them so quick, it’s better he doesn’t. He is one beast that simply can’t be tamed. He has women throwing themselves at him, women who adore him. It’s better that he does stay single.”
Cowell was reported charting a yacht to take some of his ex-girlfriends and his mother to Barbados. He recently invited many of his exes to a blowout bash in London for his 50th birthday that was attended by celebrities from around the globe.
Holden has judged with Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent, where Susan Boyle was discovered.
But Holden believes Cowell, the top-earning US television star, fancies Transformers bombshell Megan Fox. She said: “He’ll probably try to date her. He’s heard she fancies him and he’s loving it big time. He doesn’t like just tapping one girl out. He likes a few.”

Simon Cowell wants David Bowie as his next guest star on reality show The X Factor.
The 50-year-old judge lined up performers including Robbie Williams, George Michael and Rihanna for the last series of the show, and he reportedly wants the Let’s Dance singer for the next series.
He said: “I’m thinking we should do something for David Bowie. I think that would be good. Just because he’s a great songwriter.”
Cowell also confirmed that he has asked rapper Eminem to be a guest judge on the show.
He said: “I’d love to have them on as guest judges on a theme that would make them comfortable.
“I’ve extended the invitation to Eminem already. What did he say? I don’t know yet.”
And it’s not just any hero, there are rumors flying around that Taylor Swift might actually play Supergirl. This is what a source said about Taylor Swift’s new break: “Hollywood is short of female heroes and the time is right for a new Supergirl. Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish are still planning to adopt a child.
The couple, who married in a civil ceremony in 2005, failed earlier this year to become parents to 17-month-old Ukrainian boy Lev, who lives in an orphanage.
They were stopped because their civil partnership is not recognised in Ukraine and John, at 62, is too old under local law.
But now the pair have been offered a guardian role in Lev’s life – and it has made them even more determined to help change the law so they can adopt in the future.
Furnish, 47, said: “We want to support Lev and his brother and get them into a Ukrainian home and out of the orphanage. We were upset not to be allowed to adopt but we’ll fight and work with the Ukrainian government to change the law so that HIV-positive children can be adopted. We’ll be like uncles. They can visit us on holidays.”
He said he and John – who was admitted to hospital after being diagnosed with the E.coli bacterial infection and flu in September – will be taking time out at Christmas to consider their options. “That’s part of what Christmas will be about – a chance to get off the treadmill and chill out,” Furnish said. “There is a lot for us to talk about.”
The singer recently related how her adopted son David has grown so fond of her performances and her music that he likes wearing her clothes. This is what Madonna said on the matter: “He knows every song, every word, every step, and he wants to wear all the costumes. Probably the most memorable/scandalous moment of her random musings on stage was when she greeted the crowd saying ‘Vancouver, tonight is our second date … so that means i can suck your dick!’.
The crowd literally went wild after she said that and didn’t stop dancing the whole night!
Randomly throughout the concert she would go on talking about herself and asking the crowd for praise and screaming. She told the crowd at one point she was like Tinkerbell and if she didn’t get enough applause she would just go and die.
Overall definitely a great show the crowd had a great vibe and it was a night to remember!
The singer apparently got mixed-up in a little friendly tapping at a club while celebrating her sister’s birthday. This is what a source said about Lily Allen’s recent predicament: “Lily and her family had all got to Paradise to have a nice meal for Sarah’s birthday but there seemed to have been a mix up with the rooms. The group that were in there were apparently quite rowdy and worse for wear. Lily and her family were trying to ask them to move but once they saw Lily they got really mouthy. There was some pushing and shoving as they refused to move and someone called police.” It’s good the evening was just beginning… who knows what Lily Allen would’ve done to them if she had had a few drinks beforehand.
Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil will remarry in the New Year, according to UK reports.
With the ink barely dry on their divorce, Fielder-Civil’s mother Georgette said Amy, 26, and Blake, 31, talk for hours on the computer each day. Fielder-Civil is completing a drug rehabilitation program in Sheffield which ends on February 9, 2010.
Georgette said: “Their love is so powerful nothing will stop them from being together whatever anyone else thinks. They’ve battled their demons and are absolutely off drugs. As soon as Blake finishes his term in rehab he’ll be straight back with Amy in London. They’ll lock the doors and won’t answer the phones. But I know it won’t be long before I get a call from Blake saying, ‘Mum, I’m at the airport and we’re flying off to get married’.”
Georgette, who believes their second wedding will be at an overseas location, said: “It’s the same ring, the same Amy and the same Blake. They never stopped loving each other and have spoken every day through the divorce.”
Social networking has certainly played a role. The reconnection began with e-mail, progressed to Facebook and soon involved Web cameras three to four times a day. Georgette said: “They talk about how they felt lost until they found each other again. They aren’t jealous about what they got up to during the split and they don’t go over the past. Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood is reportedly ignoring his girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova after she tried to woo him back.
Wood, 62, was recently arrested on suspicion of assaulting his 20-year-old Russian cocktail waitress girlfriend but was later released on bail, pending further inquiries.
It is now claimed that he is refusing to take any calls from Ekaterina after the recent fight that led to his arrest.
A pal of Ekaterina said: “She’s frantic Ronnie still won’t talk to her.”
Ronnie reportedly kicked Ekaterina out of the Claygate mansion they shared in Surrey following the bust-up.
The singer who recently announced her break from the music scene is apparently looking into getting the place for her upcoming holiday. A source said the following about Lily Allen’s plans for changing home: “Lily’s had enough of London life. She may only be 24, but she’s done far more than most other girls her age in just a short space of time.” Yeah, it really is time for Lily Allen to settle down and retire, she’s already done all that she can do.
