Anna Faris will have some army boots to fill when she takes on the part made unforgettable by Goldie Hawn – Private Benjamin.
Empire Online reports Faris, 33, will star in the remake of the 1980 Oscar-winning comedy, which will not lampoon the men and women serving the military but give them an empowering plot line.
Faris has appeared in Scary Movie, Brokeback Mountain and Young Americans.
IMDB.com describes her as a “natural blonde” who dyed her hair black for Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2.
The life of US comedienne and talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres has been turned into a comic book for charity.
The American Idol judge has been confirmed by Bluewater Productions as the latest star to be featured in its Female Force comic-book series, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Humane Society of the United States, according to reports.
The new comic book, which goes on sale in the US tomorrow, priced $3.99, charts the chat-show host’s life from her early childhood growing up in Louisiana to playing the stand-up comedy circuit, and later achieving worldwide fame on TV.
Other influential women who have been featured in the comic-book series include Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Hillary Clinton.
Written by Sandra C Ruckdeschel and illustrated by Pedro Ponzo, the 38-page comic even includes sketches of DeGeneres’s at-home wedding to Arrested Development star Portia de Rossi in 2008.
And she’s doing it pretty aggressively… after all, Lindsay Lohan always wants to be taken seriously professionally. This is what she wrote on her twitter account about her BBC documentary in India which will air on Thursday: “My documentary for the BBC network is coming out soon… It’s about child trafficking in India… I’d like to encourage everyone to watch it! It’s a massive world issue, and it goes on every day. I just want people to recognize the more important things in the world-rather than gossip.” Of course if people watch the documentary, things will change, things will get better… for Lindsay Lohan maybe, but no more than this. Oh well, maybe that’s worth something too.
It looks like everybody’s beginning to take their work very seriously these days. After getting slimed at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, Katy Perry perhaps considered it might be a good time to speak about her upcoming album. This is what she said on the matter: “It’s what I said I wanted earlier. We nailed it: It’s roller-skating! It’s ’90s! It’s Ace of Base! It’s Cyndi Lauper! It’s like all these colors and more. There might be some really cool guest appearances by some cool rappers from the West Coast. I mean, you’ll just have to see, since I’m a California girl, you know. And then some best friends might be appearing. … We’ll see! It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be one of those records that is everybody’s favorite guilty pleasure.” Interesting mold Katy Perry is thinking of concocting there… hopefully it won’t all blow up in her face. Or if it does, at least let it lead to something good.
Demi Moore has hit out at Kim Kardashian on Twitter for misusing the word ‘pimping’.
Moore, 47, started the drama when she saw Kardashian, 29, post a message on Twitter saying: “Big pimpin w @SerenaJWilliams @LaLaVazquez.”
The actress didn’t seem to be too impressed with the comments and wrote a message to the reality star.
She said: “No disrespect I love a girls night out but a pimp and pimping is nothing more than a slave owner!”
Moore added: “If we want to end slavery we need to stop glorifying the ‘pimp’ culture.”
However, her followers weren’t impressed with Moore’s comments and sent her messages saying Kardashian obviously didn’t mean it ‘literally’.
Moore replied: “It’s not her! iwe have allowed it 2 B considered cool, but it still is what it its!”
Kardashian then defended her own comments and said: “Nothing wrong with dancing to Big Pimpin’ by Jay Z in the club! Having a girls night out, gotta love that song!”
Moore added: “Just so ya’ll are clear I like @KimKardashian I was just making a point about how we have used a word and desensitized the real meaning.
“Clearly I stirred up a s**t storm, but 2 create change U have 2 be willing 2 take a risk and be willing 2 provoke thought & conversation.”
Kardashian agreed and said: “Good point!Iagree! It was just a song not literal.”
Brittany Murphy’s grieving husband says comparing the tragic actress to former addict Corey Haim is “absurd” and stressed that she had “never used a drug in her life”.
Simon Monjack told Access Hollywood that suggestions that the 32-year-old star abused illegal substances makes him “furious”.
“Corey was someone that had openly used drugs for many, many years and had a problem,” he said.
“Brittany was someone that never used a drug in her life.”
When asked whether he ever witnessed Brittany take illegal drugs, the British-born photographer replied: “Absolutely not and nor did anyone else.”
Although prescription medications were found in Brittany’s system at the time of her death, Simon insisted she never abused prescription drugs.
He says the Eight Mile star was vindicated when an autopsy report listed her cause of death, last December, as an “accident”.
“Death is the only place she found peace,” Monjack added.
Fall Out Boy star Pete Wentz said he wants his baby son Bronx to see the world the same as any other normal child.
The 30-year-old bassist has a 16-month-old son Bronx with wife Ashlee, 25, and said he doesn’t want him to grow up unaware of the problems of the world.
He said to Entertainment Tonight: “I want my son to know that the world doesn’t revolve around this bubble that we live in.
“In order to empathise with all [the world's] children, he needs to see them as the same to him.”
Wentz is encouraging people to dine out at a UNICEF Tap Project restaurant during World Water Week.
It looks like the American Idol contestant can’t seem to get out of the bottom of the barrel to get closer to the fresh air at the top. Tim Urban is stuck down there and it doesn’t seem like he will be getting out too soon. For his performance he chose “A crazy little thing called love” by Queen and apparently the only thing noteworthy about his performance was a slide he did. Simon Cowell however doesn’t seem to think that: “It was completely and utterly pointless and silly.” Kara DioGuardi however does not refrain herself from pointing out Tim Urban’s obvious voting squad: “It was Zac Efron and Hairspray and little girls will love that.” Well, there are probably just enough little girls out there to keep Tim Urban on the show, but he’d better pull off something dazzling and pretty soon or otherwise it’s off to home camp.
It looks like Robbie Williams really isn’t very sure about doing a tour for the promotion of his new album but his bosses are trying very, very hard to encourage it. This is what a source said about Robbie Williams’ indecision: “Tempers are fraying because Robbie is non-commital at the moment. He’s made no secret that he doesn’t want to tour this time round but his management firm, IE Management, are keen to get him out after such a successful comeback. He is beginning to come round to the idea but is still unsure. People are becoming restless.” Well of course they’re becoming restless, they all want to pay good money to see Robbie Williams lip-synching to his new album. And his superiors would like to get the chance to “earn” a good deal of that money. So Robbie Williams will most likely come to his senses at some point.
Dakota Fanning was left red-faced as she was asked what it was like to kiss Kristen Stewart… by Kristen Stewart.
The pair share a lesbian lip-lock in their upcoming movie The Runaways, a biopic about the formation of the 70s all-girl teenage rock band in Los Angeles.
Fanning, 16, plays Cherry Bomb singer Cherie Currie and Stewart, 19, plays Joan Jett in the film.
Promoting the new movie on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the actress was quizzed by people who had sent in their videotaped questions.
But Fanning was shocked to see the last question was from her co-star pretending to be a fan.
Stewart said: “Hi Dakota. I think you’re amazing and I’m such a huge fan from everything, not just Twilight, and I was wondering what’s it like to kiss Kristen Stewart?”
After regaining her composure, Fanning replied: “It was pretty great, It was wonderful.”
The actress revealed it was easier to shoot the scene because they are friends.
“It was almost not as awkward because you’re friends and you have to this thing then it’s done,” she said. Fanning added that her younger fans wont be seeing the pair kissing anytime soon.
“We’re definitely not kissing in the Twilight movies,” she said. “I’m not giving any secrets there.”
An Education star Dominic Cooper has said middle-aged women chase him down the road.
The 31-year-old admitted that he has become a hit with the older ladies since appearing in Mamma Mia! in 2008.
He Revealed: “I get middle-aged women chasing me down the street. It’s definitely due to Mamma Mia!.
“I was blissfully unaware of how the business worked. Once people recognise you, it changes your position in terms of the people you meet and the opportunities you then have for more work. The whole thing was a delightful experience.”
Guru of grunge Kurt Cobain could be brought back to life on a UK stage by a wholesome star contestant of Dancing On Ice, Gary Lucy.
The UK Sun reports Lucy, who has played clean-cut characters in Hollyoaks and Footballers’ Wives, is keen to depart from character and do something “totally different”.
He said: “Playing Kurt Cobain would be far removed from the glitz and glamour of doing Dancing On Ice.”
Cobain of the cult band Nirvana died in April, 1994, at the age of 27. The play is titled Kurt And Sid and tells the story of a fictitious meeting between Cobain and the Sex Pistols’ Sid Vicious hours before Cobain’s suicide by gunshot. Vicious died from a drug overdose in 1979.
A friend said: “Gary wants a new challenge and this would certainly be that.”
It looks like the Take That member who recently admitted to having cheated on his wife with many, many other women, wasn’t cheating on her just with women but with girls too. A fan of the band recently came forward and related about a sexual encounter involving herself and Mark Owen back in 1995 when she was just sixteen. This is what she said: “I look back know and think, ‘You, silly moo’. But we were just young kids. I had only ever kissed a boy before. He knew that we were both young girls and he was taking advantage of us. But it’s his wife I feel sorry for now.” Bet you anything Mark Owen didn’t think this would ever come back to bite him in the ass… but then again, he was supposedly drunk at the time so this might be as new to him as it is to everybody else. He’ll be lucky to keep out of prison for this one.
It was Rolling Stones night last evening on American Idol and all of the remaining twelve contestants did their best to do justice to the great band. Siobhan Magnus apparently managed to stand out amongst them with her rendition of “Paint it black” that apparently sparkled the judges’ fancy. Simon Cowell was impressed too, although he could not refrain from one small piece of criticism: “I think it was the standout performance of the night. You look interesting. It’s almost like you’re going to have to now scream at the end of every song. But it kind of worked.” That’s the Earl of Exigency for ya’… but what’s wrong with a little screaming. It’s definitely helping Siobhan Magnus get up in the ranks.
It looks like even The X Factor doesn’t guarantee stardom. As an example, the two former stars of the show, John and Edward Grimes, were recently dropped by Sony Records after only one single. This is what a source said about the decision: “We tried our best to make the lads credible recording artists but punters just weren’t that bothered. They are great lads but haven’t got the greatest voices, so they’re something to see rather than listen to.” Well, well, look at that… not even digital re-mastering and all the other tricks the modern music industry uses couldn’t make John and Edward Grimes get on Sony’s minimum requirements list. Could the world actually be developing musical taste? Or is it just because of the record label’s standards?
X-Factor judge Louis Walsh has said he hopes that Dannii Minogue is brought back for another series.
The 57-year-old has said his job is safe for the next series of the show and is hoping Minogue, 38, also returns, despite the fact she is expecting a baby in the middle of the auditions stage in July.
Walsh confirmed his own return and said to UK newspaper The Sun: “I don’t know who else is back.
“I presume Simon and Cheryl will be there, and maybe Dannii will.
“She worked really hard last year. I don’t see why she shouldn’t be back once the baby is born.”
Mexican singer Paquita la del Barrio is speaking out about her views on homosexuality and on gays adopting kids. According to her, she rather have a kid die than be adopted by a gay couple. During an interview with Univision, the singer basically said that gays adopting is wrong and that no gay couple should ever adopt a child. She said that the child would be better off dead than “have that type of life”. The 62-year old validates her point by saying that the child would grow up confused not knowing who to call mom and who to call dad. She tried to make herself look better by saying she has nothing against gay marriage though.
Corey Haim’s funeral costs will be covered by the memorabilia company that was auctioning off some of his belongings.
According to reports, the family of the Lost Boys actor was appealing for donations from fans to help pay for his funeral.
A memorial fund was being set up to help cover the cost of transporting the former child star’s body to his native Toronto, where he will be laid to rest next week.
A message posted on Haim’s official website said: “Corey’s funeral will be taking place next week in his hometown of Toronto, Canada.
“Due to the unexpected expenses of transporting his body to Canada for final resting, a fund has been set up to help his family.”
But now sources close to Haim have said that a company called Startifacts has volunteered to donate the proceeds from their Haim-related auctions.
Michael Kronick, owner of Startifacts, said rather than waiting until all the sales were complete, they’ll come to the funeral next week with a cheque for $20,000 – to cover the costs of the headstone, transporting the body to Toronto, and whatever else is needed.
The singer recently shared with us all his unique ideas on improving home security. This is what Pete Wentz wrote on his twitter, probably in lack of any other remotely interesting thing to say: “I really wish bayonets were primary weapons still. I feel like I’d be good at using one and it’s practical home defense.” Sure, there’s nothing better to charge at a guy holding a shotgun with than a bayonet… not a gun with a bayonet, just the bayonet. Pete Wentz should really try it some time… he might actually find the result to be quite surprising, much to his dismay though.
Omer Bhatti, an alleged love child of Michael Jackson, has slowly filled the paternal shoes of the late Jackson for Prince Michael I, Paris Katherine and Prince Michael II.
Bhatti, 25, who spent time under the king of pop’s tutelage, has been living with the three children at the family compound in Encino, RadarOnline reports in an exclusive.
Sources said the Norwegian Bhatti, who showed up on Jackson’s doorstep in 1996, told the children: “Call me Michael.”
He regularly introduces himself as “Michael”. The three children are in the permanent guardianship of their grandmother, Katherine. The Jacksons are a tight-knit clan and Michael’s siblings and their children make for a regular presence in Encino.
Radar notes the California Department of Children and Family Services recently visited the home after a stun gun was linked to the children. The Jacksons denied that Prince Michael II, aka Blanket, got near the item, which was ordered by an older child over the internet.
“Omer has even told the children he has changed his name from Omer Jamal Bhatti to Omer Michael Bhatti. He has infiltrated the Jackson family in a way that many find to be disturbing and detrimental to the children,” said a source close to the family.
