British actress Carey Mulligan has reportedly lost out on a role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

The Oscar nominee, 25, had auditioned for a lead role in the Hollywood adaptation of the hit novel, which Daniel Craig has already signed up for.

However, according to UK newspaper The Mail On Sunday, Mulligan did not impress the director David Fincher.

A source said: “She just didn’t fit the part. David is casting again – only this time the actresses will have full hair, make-up, wardrobe, and piercings, which wasn’t done in the earlier tests.

“David thought Carey was too clean-cut and is looking for someone a little more gritty.”

Hollywood parents Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt threw a go-karting birthday party for their son Maddox, according to US reports.

The youngster is the couple’s eldest child and he recently celebrated his ninth birthday.

His superstar parents reportedly put on a party for their son at Go Kart World,

Maddox was joined by his three eldest siblings, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh, as well as two dozen other children at the bash.

A source said to the US website: “They stayed for about two hours. Brad and Angie were very nice people and only asked other people there not [to] take pictures.”

Rapper Kanye West has previously been spotted at the go-karting venue in Carson, California.

Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel has revealed that he felt like “an impostor” on the set of the 2008 movie – because he is British.

The 20-year-old actor, who starred in the hit movie alongside his girlfriend Freida Pinto, said that he felt like an outsider on the set because the rest of the cast were Indian.

Patel, who grew up in Harrow, north London, told UK magazine the Radio Times that the only time he had ever been to India was when he got “dragged along” to a family wedding in Gujarat, where his parents are from.

Talking about filming the movie, he said: “Unlike Freida and the rest of the cast who were from India, I felt like an impostor. I was a British kid. I didn’t have the accent.”

He added: “I didn’t have anything. Everything needed to change. I had to de-British myself!”

Actor Eddie Cibrian has slammed reports that he is having an affair with his ex-wife Brandi Glanville.

The former CSI: Miami star, 37, was rumoured to be cheating on his singer girlfriend LeAnn Rimes with his ex-wife.

But Cibrian posted a message on his Twitter page today blasting the claims.

He tweeted: “Once again, my ex has stooped to a new low attempting to sabotage my beautiful relationship with LeAnn.”

Cibrian’s eight-year marriage to Glanville ended last year after it was revealed he was having an affair with Rimes.

Cibrian and Rimes, 27, recently moved in together, according to reports.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen has explained what she meant by her controversial “breastfeeding law” comment.

Gisele Bundchen recently caused controversy when she suggested that breastfeeding should become a mandatory worldwide law in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

But the 30-year-old model posted a message on her blog late last night to clarify that she doesn’t want to establish international breastfeeding laws.

She wrote: “My intention in making a comment about the importance of breastfeeding has nothing to do with the law.

“It comes from my passion and beliefs about children.”

She added: “It’s unfortunate that in an interview sometimes things can seem so black and white.”

Gisele Bundchen , who gave birth to her son Benjamin with husband Tom Brady in 2009, continued: “I am sure if I would just be sitting talking about my experiences with other mothers, we would just be sharing opinions.”

In the Harper’s Bazaar interview, the Brazilian model reportedly said: “Some people here [in the US] think they don’t have to breastfeed, and I think, ‘Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?’

“I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months.”

Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel has revealed that he and his co-star Frieda Pinto kept their romance secret, so that it would not take attention away from the film.

The couple started dating after meeting on the set of the hit movie, but Patel said they didn’t want anyone to find out in case they thought the relationship was part of the movie’s publicity.

Dev told British newspaper The Sun: “The talk was all about the film at that time and we weren’t going to come out as some kind of product.

“We weren’t doing it for marketing.”

The 20-year-old actor added: “If we could, we would probably have kept it totally under wraps.”

But he said he was happy when he and Pinto, 25, finally made their relationship public and the media attention died down.

He said: “But there comes a point when you get more attention from the, ‘Are they, aren’t they?’ debate.

“So we figured that, ‘All right, everyone knows now’.”

He added: “Once we did come out, the attention died down and that is great.”

Chelsea Clinton has tied the knot in front of proud parents Bill and Hillary.

The former First Daughter married boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky, watched by 400 friends and family in Rhinebeck, New York.

Clinton wore a dress by Vera Wang, a friend of the family and one of a host of celebrities at the event at the Astor Courts estate. Other celebrities present included actor Ted Danson, movie producer Steve Bing and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

After the ceremony, her parents released a statement expressing their joy at the marriage.

“Today, we watched with immense pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends.

“We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family.

“On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day.”

Britain’s Next Top Model host Elle Macpherson has said good make-up is key to looking good.

Macpherson, 47, whose impressive physique has earned her the name The Body, admitted that she only looks her best with a lot of help from cosmetics.

She said: “Make-up! It’s all make-up. And genes. So thanks Mum, thanks Dad. Goodness knows I’ve spent enough time in the sun so my skin is not as fresh as I would like.”

Macpherson, who is mum to two young sons, added that she also doesn’t like to diet.

She said: “Usually I eat like a horse! I’ve been through phases where I’ve been vegan and vegetarian but as I get older I realise that not having animal protein is perhaps not the best way to manage healthy hormones.”
