After apparently writing Country Music Awards history by winning all of the four prizes she was nominated for, Taylor Swift apparently got Wynonna Judd, a fellow country singer, a bit upset with her accomplishments, especially being the youngest artist to win the Entertainer of the Year award. This is what Wynonna Judd said about Taylor Swift’s good fortune: “You want my honest comment? It’s too much too soon. Time is God’s way of keeping everything from happening at once. It’s just too much of a good thing too soon.” Interesting philosophy she has… you have to wonder where she dug it up from. Not even St. Augustine could’ve found a better explanation for time… even Thomas More would probably bow to the divinity with which it’s formulated. Well, even though Wynonna Judd might’ve lost a prize or two to Taylor Swift, she does have the Christian philosophical community’s admiration.

Due to the public outrage that Nickelodean did not take the initiative to drop Chris Brown as a nominee from their Kid’s Choice Awards since “the incident” – Chris Brown has removed himself.

This is a good move on his part and that of his PR people who have obviously talked some sense into him. Withdrawing shows that Chris realizes the consequences of his actions.

While Nickelodeon had chosen to let his nominations remain, saying he was nominated before ‘the incident,’ thousands of parents have protested. Despite overwhelming evidence that he did assault Rihanna, he is legally entitled to the presumption of innocence which may have been why Nickelodeon continued to back him.

Then again, the current nominees for male singer are, Jesse McCartney, Kid Rock, and T-Pain. Are they role models? Nominees for female singer include, Rihanna, and currently, is she a role model?

While many agree his musical talent may be award-worthy for nomination, his behaviour in his personal life is not and it is very obvious that his recent involvement in this scandalous situation clearly shows that for the time being, he is no position to be a role model for children.

Chris Brown’s rep released the following statement:

“Chris very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honor they have paid him in the way of nominations for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song.

Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding the incident last month has shifted the focus from the music to whether he should be allowed to be among those nominated.

While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time. Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so.”

TMZ is reporting that their sources have confirmed to them that the woman who sent the text message to Chris Brown on THE night that resulted in the assault against Rihanna was from his manager Tina Davis. Apparently, it was she who had sent him a 3 page text message to his cell phone suggesting they hook up later. When Rihanna read it, she did the freak (slapped him first) and things escalated from there.

The detective’s affidavit stated the text was:

“from a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with.”

Davis who will be turning 40 years old this month has been rumored to have had a relationship with Chris when he was 16… although both of them have denied it.

In other Chris Brown related news:

Even after receiving thousands of requests to remove Chris Brown from the nominee list, the team over at Nickelodeon are allowing his Kids Choice Awards nominations to remain.

Chris is nominated for Favorite Male Singer and also for “Kiss Kiss” for Favorite Song.

It is very upsetting that the network has not taken a more pro-active stand against domestic violence because the evidence is overwhelming. It not only includes pictures and Rihanna’s own words in the police report, but a text from Brown himself to her manager admitting and apologizing for his actions saying he was going to get help for his anger issues.

E! is reporting that Chris and Rihanna are planning to record a duet together for his Greatest Hits Album.

The drama continues…

Music legend Neil Diamond was named as MusiCares Person of the Year. The music industry charity celebrated Diamond for his philanthropy for donating concert merchandise sales to aide relief areas in Texas that were destroyed by Hurricane Ike last fall.

The singer-songwriter thanked his mom, Rose, who was in the audience, remembering how his parents bought him a $10 guitar when he was just a boy in Brooklyn.

“They paid it off a dollar a week for 10 weeks,” he said. “It was a good investment, Mom. You invested $10 and made a life for me.”

The Jonas Brothers kicked off the gala event which launches Grammy weekend when they sang Diamond’s hit song, “Forever in Blue Jeans.”

“Aren’t they adorable?” host Jimmy Kimmel joked. “These kids wouldn’t even have sideburns if it weren’t for Neil Diamond.”

Katy Perry was mistakenly given Best International Song Of The Year Award for “I Kissed a Girl” at the NRJ Music Award at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes France on Saturday when she had actually won in another category. NRJ is France’s foremost music awards show.

The trophies were given based on results of audience votes on NRJ’s website in the weeks prior to the awards ceremony.

Perry had walked up to the podium to receive the award for Best International Song Of The Year, when she had actually won Best International Album for “One of the Boys”. Rihanna was the actual winner for Best International Song Of The Year for “Disturbia.”

At the end of the show however, the host Nikos Aliagas apologized and then announced that there had been an error during the counting of the votes and she was not the winner. Rihanna was for “Disturbia.”

Britney Spears who was not present to pick up her award won for international artist of the year. The Pussycat Dolls won for best international group and Enrique Iglesias was named top international male artist.

“What’s Love Got To Do With It?

During the Grammy’s, Beyonce introduced Tina Turner as “The Queen.” When Aretha Franklin heard that she got upset, so upset that she released a statement announcing and reminding everyone that she has always been known as the “Queen of Soul.”

Tina took her time responding to that insult … as any QUEEN would do because “She’s Simply The Best” and this is how she cleared up the misunderstanding to USA Today:

“Aretha has always been like that. We’ve always accepted that from her. She’s the queen of soul, and I’m the queen of rock ‘n’ roll. There were so many kings and queens there that night. Her ego must be so big to think she was the only one. That’s how queens are!”

The wig fight is on! Here is Aretha’s response to Tina:

“I have always appreciated what Tina Turner has to offer and had quietly cheered her on after Ike and her subsequent success. However, with respect to her statement concerning my ego clearly she was talking about herself as she described herself as the ‘Queen of Rock’ and saying ‘that’s what Queens do’ — particularly since she does not have a clue as to who I am in view of the fact that we have never met.

I never figured her to resort to tacky press just to sell a few tickets. I understand and I know that the concert market is down where ticket sales are concerned. I really had put her in a different class — higher than that.

Finally, no one has been more gracious or complimentary to their peers than I have and I am confident and secure enough to do so, unlike some others. I wish Ms. Turner all the best, as I always have. Perhaps one day we will meet.”

I don’t think Aretha read the interview and the entire context of Tina’s response. She was laughing and referring to egos in general. She didn’t exclude herself! What’s really ironic about this is that some writer for the Grammys is most likely the one responsible for giving Beyonce those lines!

Britney’s “comeback” as the opening act of the MTV Awards did not disappoint even though she did not perform. She walked on stage looking fabulous in a sequined one-shoulder mini dress looking a wee bit nervous. She was warmly greeted with a standing ovation.

She also won all three of the awards she was nominated for: Best Female Music Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year. Her acceptance speech gave thanks to God, her family, her beautiful boys and her fans.

Ne-Yo had this to say about her:

“I love that girl; after last year I just want her to win. I’m a Britney fan — I’ve been a Britney fan since the beginning,” he told Pop Tarts before the show. “I’ve seen pictures and she looks amazing right now. She’s in shape now, she’s got the six-pack going. I’m so pleased we won’t have to worry about that belly jiggling around this year.”

“If she does well great, if not, it shouldn’t matter,” VMA-winner Chris Brown said. “I can’t wait to see everybody perform. It’s going to be incredible.”

I had to post this picture of her posing with her chewing gum showing in her mouth!

Britney has just confirmed that she will open the 2008 Video Music Awards which are taking place at Paramount Studios in Hollywood:

“MTV has long played an important role in my career,” Britney says in a statement. “How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s? I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”

She hasn’t yet won but maybe this year will be her year as she is nominated for three: Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”

No performance is scheduled but she has a surprise in the works. Van Toffler president of MTV Networks Music/LOGO/Films Group said:

“Britney has done everything from perform with a snake, lock lips with Madonna and prove that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. I can’t wait to see what she does to kick off this year’s show.”

So it’s official. Should be an interesting show. She’s looking great, feeling better, been behaving herself lately, hopefully this gives her a boost.
