At least this is what TV critic Lisa De Moraes from the Washington Post thinks. This is how she sees Kara DioGuardi’s metamorphosis, it its complex stages: “They have sexed up her look a lot — more toussled hair and she’s adopted Paula’s ‘Going clubbing after this’ look. And they’ve moved her over next to Simon and suddenly she’s doing the shoulder rub and stroking his arm and exchanging sexy banter with him on air.” Well, Paula Abdul will be missed and she certainly had a special relationship with Simon Cowell, but that’s almost a married man we’re talking about there. Surely Kara DioGuardi isn’t just coping the field like that… but maybe it’s all heart in it, maybe she just wants to fill the void that was left when Paula Abdul was no longer a part of the team.

As the first week of the new American Idol season draws to a close, so does the fate of some unlucky adventurer within the cruel, cruel world of pop-star fabrication. Even though from the judges’ comments you might have expected Alex Lambert to be the one to get wiped from the scene, surprise, surprise, Tyler Grady is the one who gets to go home. Even so, he still has a message for the judges as he goes: “I feel like I didn’t get much constructive criticism during Hollywood Week, and what they told me was a little too late.” Well, Simon Cowell surely will not be losing too much sleep over that… after all, the show must go on and a star must be chosen. In the end, there can be only one!

Britain’s Got Talent star Piers Morgan has said he wants to be Simon Cowell’s best man when he marries.

Cowell, 50, is said to be getting serious with make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy, 36, and his Britain’s Got Talent co-judge has said he wants to make him ’squirm’ as his best man.

He said: “I hope Simon will choose me.

“I would give the best speech ever about him. I have some stories that would make Simon squirm more than ever before.

“It would be an absolute honour to be asked. I know I would make his day.”

Morgan said that he is very grateful to Hussainy: “He [Cowell] is constantly smiling. He is even being mildly nicer to the contestants… so it’s good news all round. I have never seen him this happy.”

Music boss Simon Cowell was offered $100 million to stay on American Idol but said “there is more to life than money”.

The 50-year-old star recently revealed he will step down from his position as a judge on the hit US talent show at the end of the current series.

His friend and fellow Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan, 44, has told how the star was offered a large sum to return but turned it down.

Morgan said to UK’s Live magazine: “I’ve rarely seen Simon look so relaxed and happy. He’s finally concluded his deal to leave American Idol and launch The X Factor in the States, and the relief of now being able to control every aspect of every show he stars in is obvious.

“And to all those who say he’s only interested in money, I can confirm that he was offered $100 million to stay on American Idol – and declined. ‘There is more to life than money, Piers,’ sighed Simon.”

So there is indeed still hope for the universe to thrive! Even though Simon Cowell leaves now to pursue his own talent-show ambitions, American Idol will live on. This is what Robert Sillerman, CEO of CKX, the company that spawned 19 Entertainment, said about the future prospects of American Idol: “As talented as Cowell is…’Idol’s’ future with this long-term extension is guaranteed.” And now it’s all going to get even more interesting seeing as how they will have competition for the title of most awesomest talent-show ever. And so the epic battle begins… we’ll see if Simon Cowell can use his special talents to win at this one.

Simon Cowell, star judge on The X Factor and bachelor, will never settle down, according to fellow TV judge Amanda Holden.

She said of Cowell: “He makes me laugh, taking his exes to Barbados. One giving him a pedicure, one a manicure and one a massage. I really don’t think he’ll ever settle down. He goes off them so quick, it’s better he doesn’t. He is one beast that simply can’t be tamed. He has women throwing themselves at him, women who adore him. It’s better that he does stay single.”

Cowell was reported charting a yacht to take some of his ex-girlfriends and his mother to Barbados. He recently invited many of his exes to a blowout bash in London for his 50th birthday that was attended by celebrities from around the globe.

Holden has judged with Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent, where Susan Boyle was discovered.

But Holden believes Cowell, the top-earning US television star, fancies Transformers bombshell Megan Fox. She said: “He’ll probably try to date her. He’s heard she fancies him and he’s loving it big time. He doesn’t like just tapping one girl out. He likes a few.”

Was very abruptly cancelled… who was broadcasting it? Well, ABC of course and it seems that Adam Lambert has to cancel his plans of performing on the show. This is what he said on the matter: “Obviously I respect their decision, they gotta do what they gotta do. It’s too bad, I think there were a lot of fans who were excited to come see me. They probably had a lot of pressure coming at them from certain people who weren’t happy about it. I respect their decision – I don’t necessarily agree with it, but they need to do what they need to do.” Wow… very smooth of Adam Lambert. There might be something to him yet. Who would’ve though, an American Idol alumni who is not a slave to the industry and a non-American Idol participant taking it over… could 2012 really be the end?

New American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres has called Paula Abdul’s impersonation of her “hilarious”.

Paula, 47, recently quit the hit talent show and was replaced by chat show host Ellen, 51. Paula then impersonated Ellen while hosting VH1 Divas Live and Ellen tweeted that she loved it.

She wrote on Twitter: “Paula – you’re hilarious. You’ve left me some big shoes to fill – unfortunately I don’t wear high heels. Nothing but love for you too.”

On the show, Paula donned a blonde wig and a suit and trainers and said to the crowd: “All kidding aside, [I have] nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig.”

I don’t think that Paula Abdul will be going back to American Idol but the man behind ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, Nigel Lythgoe, seems to think otherwise. He is holding off from giving the former judge a position on his dance competition show because he believes the decision to let Paula go might be reversed. Apparently he hasn’t been paying close attention to the media as Nigel wasn’t able to catch Fox Entertainment chairman Peter Rice say “Our understanding is we’ve concluded the negotiations and Paula has announced she will not be coming back.” If Idol won’t have her though, Nigel is keen on booking Paula for the dance show saying “I don’t know anybody that’s had her experience of being a dancer, of being a choreographer and of being a judge.”

Alexis Cohen, a former contestant on American Idol, was found dead last week in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The 25-year old aspiring singer auditioned for the reality TV talent show in 2008 and in 2009, where she unfortunately wasn’t able to gain a golden ticket on both tries. Alexis was struck and killed by a car with authorities calling it a homicide. Alexis suffered chest, head and abdominal injuries. Her body was found in the street by two pedestrians. Whoever did this to her should be brought to justice. If whoever was involved could have just called for help, a life might have been saved.

Pals of TV’s Mr Nasty Simon Cowell helped him celebrate his birthday – by singing You’re So Vain to him.

American Idol and X Factor judge Cowell celebrated his 50th birthday with a surprise party.

Best gal pal Jackie St Claire organised the bash, originally telling Cowell they were celebrating her birthday at the party in west London.

But instead Jackie had arranged a performance with some of the music mogul’s closest buddies.

Dannii Minogue, Amanda Holden, American Idol judge Randy Jackson and Louis Walsh sang the Carly Simon chart-topper You’re So Vain.

One partygoer revealed: "Jackie went to extraordinary lengths to organise the bash for Simon.

"She even told the guys performing they were singing for her – but it turned out they were there for Simon.

"She knew the performance would really make him laugh. Dannii took the lead vocals and the others came out providing the comedy for the show.

"Jackie knew Simon would find it hysterically funny – especially when Louis joined in the singing."

"Simon is so vain but, unlike some, he is the first to admit it. So it was the perfect joke."

Cowell turns 50 in October, but he will be too busy then with X Factor to celebrate properly.

The singer who has denied rumors of being a lesbian in the past considers it’s very hot when women hit on her, but she does prefer boys nonetheless. Kelly Clarkson said: “The rumors are not helping me on the dating front! I prefer the boys. I’m extremely flattered when I do get hit on by girls and I think it’s hot but I’m not into it. I like boys.” What about men, is anybody interested in men? Is Kelly Clarkson interested in men? Apparently not, but from what she says, a she-male would most likely make her night every time.

The singer is reportedly going to be teaming up with Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi, the American Idol judges, in order to work on her next release. A source said the following about Kilye Minogue’s new plans for commercial success: “Kylie will be in the US on a mini-tour at the end of the summer and she hopes to record some new music with American friends around those dates. She already has loads of ideas for album number 11.” Sure, as long as she’s in the neighborhood, why not? After all, since American Idol recently came to a close, the judges most likely have a lot of spare time on their hands and what better way to use it than to devise up more plots for an easy million or so?

Clay Aiken is turning on the hate towards American Idol. When he was asked how he felt on how the show went down this year, the singer made sure to hate on this season’s runner up Adam Lambert and every Idol winner for the last few years. He blogged “Now that it’s all over, and for the record…. I couldn’t be happier about the way AI ended this year… I happened to turn it during the minute that Adam Lambert was singing “Ring of Fire” and, at that moment, thought my ears would bleed. Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening! I wasn’t really a fan and found myself surprised whenever folks told me that they liked him… The show was different then, and folks made it in seasons 1-3 because they were “real” people who happened to sing/entertain well. But, somewhere along the way, AI stopped being about real people… And, at the same time, I think they voted AGAINST an American Idol that has, for four years now, been more about the slick productions and polished contestants than it has been about finding the raw talent that it did in its first three seasons.”

American Idol winner Kris Allen has declared his stunning victory “the craziest thing ever”.

Kris partied after the finale at LA’s famous Mondrian Hotel along with second-placed Adam Lambert.

Also there were judges Paul Abdul, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi… but there was no sign of Simon Cowell.

Kris, 23, who was accompanied by his wife, Katy O’Connell Allen, said: "It’s the craziest thing ever. I’m so grateful. It’s awesome."

Adam, 27, said: “I’m just so happy for Kris. Just to be part of American Idol was a dream come true.”

Both finalists were photographed with scores of pretty girls and fans at the celebratory event, which went on until 1am.

Other celebrities there included David Hasselhoff and his teenage daughter Hayley, ex-model Janice Dickinson, and American Idol creator, Simon Fuller.

Victoria Beckham, a friend of Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell, was expected to show but didn’t.

Simon Cowell’s gardeners have reportedly been spotted using spirit levels and measuring tape to ensure his hedges are trimmed accurately.

The 49-year-old has recently moved into the new £20million mansion in Beverly Hills and the gardeners were spotted measuring the hedges.

A source said: "The gardeners were inspecting each section of the hedge to make sure they all aligned."

The source added to British newspaper the Daily Mail: "They walk around with clipboards squinting at the bushes to make sure everything is exactly level and that they’re trimmed to perfection."

The workers were also reportedly told to remove every fallen leaf from the house’s grounds.

American Idol is known for varying themes in the competition not only to showcase the performing talents of the contestants but also to make the show more exciting. Last week was disco week for American Idol and everyone was in a dancing mood including the four judges who were allowed to comment on each performance. Among the favorite tune last week were Donna Summer’s greatest hits, Saturday Night Fever and Studio 54.

The show started wit Lil Round’s swan song “Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” which was applauded by the judges prompting Paula Abdul to say Lil Rounds should have sung like that last week. Lil Rounds sure sounded like she was having fun for the first time in the show and that may be because she sensed she was on her way out. Kris Allen picked Donna Summer’s “She Works Hard For The Money” and sang it nearly acoustic with a bongo support. Danny Gokey played it up with Earth,Wind and Fire’s “September” and while he sang it well, there was nothing new there. Allison Iraheta did Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff” but what brought the house down again for the nth time was Adam Lambert’s rendition of “If I Can’t have You” from the Bee gees.
